Carol (Herrington) Schwebke Reese, age 96, of Los Lunas, NM, a long-time Janesville/Beloit WI resident passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2016 following a 5 year valiant battle with breast cancer. Carol was born on December 13, 1919 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of Elias and Blanche Herrington. She was the youngest of 13 children; 9 girls and 4 boys and was the last survivor. She resided in the Beloit/Janesville area most of her adult life until moving to New Mexico to be near her daughter. She married Harold Schwebke in 1941. They had one daughter, Carol and one son, William Roy who survived for one year. Harold passed away in 1980. She married Dale Reese in May of 1984, bringing a step-son, Phil (Patricia Jordan) into her life. Dale passed away in 1996. She also had the company and support of her ex-son-in-law, Donald Branton for 17 years. Carol was employed as a bookkeeper by Ossit Church Furniture Company for 24 years. Carol enjoyed her membership in the Cargill United Methodist Church, its Women’s group, the Deborah Circle, the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Elks Ladies, assisting at the Adams School breakfast and supporting ECHO, Inc.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Carol Jeanene (Richard) Sams of Los Lunas, NM, three grandchildren, John (Dawn) Branton, James (Shelley) Branton and Jason Branton; five great-grandchildren: Brittaney, Aaron, Brandon, Lucas, Nathan and two great-great-grandchildren Tynin McCluskey and Gary Branton.
Visitation will be at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, WI at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 followed by services at 11 a.m. Rev. Susan Lockman will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Beloit, WI and a luncheon will follow the interment service.
